What to expect at your child's first yoga class

A parent or guardian will be required to fill out a registration form(please ensure you come to class at least 5 mins early). This will detail contact details, known conditions, injuries and special needs, legal disclosure and information on insurance.

The parent is also required to sign-in their child on the class sign in sheet. This is to prove that your child was dropped off by an adult and there is space here for relevant information about your child's current health, mood, etc, that may affect their experience of yoga on that day.

Your child will be welcomed and shown how to set up their mat (supplied) and where to put their belongings.

We always welcome new students with open arms and play an ice-breaker game to get us started.

WHAT TO WEAR AND BRING:

Wear stretchy and comfortable clothing

Bring a small blanket or beach towel for relaxation time and a bottle of water.

I don't recommend a meal or milky snack before class as we go upside down a lot but fruit is ideal.

WHAT IF MY CHILD IS NERVOUS AND WANTS ME TO STAY?

In circumstances like this I welcome the parent/s to stay and either observe from a distance (we have a comfy couch on the sidelines) or to join in for the first lesson. In most cases, I have experienced that a parent usually only needs to stay for the first lesson.

Please note, however, that it is important for your child to experience yoga for themselves and in their own time so it is not recommended that you make them participate or overly guide them. Yoga is a very personal and non-competitive practice so it does not matter if they are doing it right.

If you choose to watch from a distance then please sit quietly so as not to disturb the class and your child's experience. We often have periods of quiet or even silence so it is important that your child is not distracted in order to get the most out of their yoga experience.
